Something has happened
to me. I’m blaming Shaynna Blaze. Selling Houses Australia is one of my
favourite shows, and Ms Blaze has taught me the importance of not only
selecting the right blinds, paints and floors, but also the value of clustering
vases and the absolute horror of plastic plants. They’re in the bin now
Shaynna – I promise.
Given everything in
our house is a blend of neutral beiges, I have always shared Shaynna’s fondness
for cushions. Cushions and throws have allowed me to change the feel of our
lounge room simply and easily. I have a good eye for colour, and a husband who
is happy for me to alter things “temporarily”, so many cushions have come
and gone in this house. My foray into more permanent (and more expensive)
things has not fared as well. After 2 years of looking for the perfect piece of
Jon Allen art for our lounge room, obsessing over purchasing it from an online
auction and importing it from the US, meticulously hanging it on the wall
and changing all the nearby cushions to complement it, it hung in place for
only 6 months before I changed my mind and I wanted something different. It’s
still a gorgeous piece of metal art, I’m just not sure it’s “right”. I want
something else now.
I’m fickle that way.
I am still trying to
decide whether it’s a keeper or if I can re-home it. In the meantime, my
fixation has moved to an objet d’art. A Jonathan Adler Ceramic Fox.
Isn’t he divine?
AJ has questioned such
an extravagance. He just left his job, we are watching our money and I am
lusting after highly “unnecessary” things like ornaments. Unnecessary purchase?
Me? Never.
After browsing through
Jonathan Adler’s website I instantly became a follower on Twitter, where to my
utmost delight I saw that Shaynna follows him too. Clearly it’s a sign. Given I
now have the imaginary “tick of approval” from Shaynna it really is a
no-brainer. The fox is coming to live with us.
